I wanted to scrap an unfinished portrait on a oblong canvas but I didn't want to get rid of the intense red background. So I ended up painting over the unfinished science fiction knight and was left with just this red background. What came out of my brush next was unplanned and led to three hours of obsessive painting.
In a strange homage to fantasy, The Night Watch and the movie Labyrinth I have this awkward little man hanging above my nightstand watching over me until I can either sell him or find a more proper place to hang him. I think I might become attached to him.
